One donation led to another
A volunteer firefighting team received a new fire truck and donated its previous one to another organisation.
The value of giving grows even greater when it continues its journey.
In May 2025, following a verified request from the EKALI 2000 Volunteer Forest Firefighters and Rescuers Team to replace their operational vehicle, Desmos mobilised the necessary resources and funded the procurement of a new fire engine, significantly strengthening the team’s operational capacity.
The arrival of the new vehicle became the starting point for another act of giving. EKALI 2000 decided to donate its previous fire engine to another volunteer Civil Protection organisation through an open call for expressions of interest addressed to volunteer groups across Greece.
Following the evaluation of the applications, the vehicle was awarded to the “ENA” Volunteer Civil Protection Organisation of Rethymno, where it will continue serving on the front line, helping protect people, local communities and the natural environment.
In May 2026, representatives of EKALI 2000 and Desmos travelled to Rethymno for the official handover of the vehicle to the ENA team. It was a meaningful moment that marked not only the completion of one donation, but also the beginning of a new journey of giving.
For many years, this vehicle stood alongside the volunteers of EKALI 2000 through countless emergency responses. Today, it continues its mission in a new region, demonstrating that the true value of a donation does not end when it is delivered—it grows every time it creates the opportunity to give again.
This initiative is a powerful example of collaboration and solidarity between volunteer organisations. One donation made another possible, maximising its social impact and extending the operational life of a vehicle that continues to serve wherever it is needed.
