New ambulance for Andros

Strengthening the Andros EKAB to ensure emergency care reaches everyone.

Equal access to healthcare is fundamental to a society that leaves no one behind. In island communities, strengthening pre-hospital emergency care plays a vital role in protecting lives.

Responding to a verified local need, Desmos, in partnership with The Kionas Foundation, donated a new, fully equipped ambulance to the Andros Hellenic National Center of Emergency Care (EKAB), significantly enhancing its operational readiness and its ability to respond promptly to emergencies.

Before this donation, the Andros EKAB operated with only one ambulance available to serve the entire island, particularly during the busy summer season. The addition of the new vehicle substantially strengthens the unit’s capacity and improves its response to emergency incidents.

The official handover ceremony took place on 20 June 2025 at Geriokomeio Square in Chora, Andros, in the presence of representatives from the EKAB, local authorities, and members of the local community. The event highlighted the importance of collaboration between charitable organisations, donors, and public institutions in strengthening Greece’s healthcare system.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to The Kionas Foundation, the Andros EKAB, and everyone who contributed to making this donation possible. When generosity meets a genuine need, it can make a real difference—especially where every minute counts.
