Social Welfare
We cover basic needs. We support dignified living
The Social Welfare pillar is the cornerstone of Desmos’ work. Since our founding in 2012, we have been working daily to provide meaningful support to people facing severe shortages in essential goods and services — such as food, heating, clothing, basic necessities, and decent living conditions.
We work closely with over 1,000 charitable organizations and agencies across the country, documenting their needs and allocating donations where they are most needed at any given time. We support all types of organizations and help every vulnerable group, wherever they are in the country.
From 2012 to the end of 2024, Desmos’ Social Welfare Pillar has supported 182,412 of our fellow citizens.
Key Programs
Food Support
Desmos provides food support to organizations that assist vulnerable social groups, including children, the elderly, low-income families, and people experiencing homelessness. By utilizing in-kind donations from food companies and community food drives, as well as financial contributions, we supply packaged, long-shelf-life food to organizations across Greece. We also respond immediately during times of crisis, ensuring food access for those affected by natural disasters or other emergencies.
From 2012 to the end of 2024, according to the Deloitte 2025 Impact Study, Desmos has provided food to over 200 social organizations, ensuring daily meals for 51,797 people across the country.
Beyond meeting immediate needs, the program contributes significantly to reducing social inequalities, strengthening local welfare networks, and shaping a more equitable and stable social framework.
Desmos provides warmth
Through the Desmos Provides Warmth program, we cover heating costs for institutions and social welfare organizations across Greece, ensuring safe and dignified living conditions for children, the elderly, and people with disabilities — especially during the winter months.
From 2012 until the end of 2024 (Deloitte Impact Study 2025), the program has secured 663,630 liters of heating oil for 352 organizations across Greece — including nursing homes, homeless shelters, child protection institutions, and accommodation facilities for unaccompanied minors. We place special emphasis on remote areas, where winters are harsher and access to heating is often limited.
Help us continue to provide warmth where it’s needed most — to elder care facilities and organizations supporting the most vulnerable among us.
The Magic of Giving
The Magic of Giving is a special initiative by Desmos that goes beyond meeting basic needs, offering moments of joy and care to children and the elderly throughout Greece. Through experiential activities, gifts, festive packages, and activities that bring smiles, the program reminds everyone—especially the most vulnerable—that giving is not only necessary, but can also be magical.
In-Kind Donations
Desmos identifies the needs of social organizations across Greece and provides them with in-kind donations — new or gently used — covering essential items for daily living. The products include clothing, furniture, linens, educational and technological equipment, musical instruments, personal hygiene items, baby items, and even food items that are close to their expiration date or have defective packaging.
From 2012 to the end of 2024, the program has supported 530 social organizations, providing goods worth a total of €2,650,071 and meeting the needs of more than 200,000 people.
