Music School of Kastoria, Western Macedonia
Donation of musical instruments to establish a school orchestra
The Music School of Kastoria is a secondary education school that plays an important role in the cultural life of Western Macedonia. It is attended by approximately 180 students from Kastoria and the surrounding areas, as well as the Prespa region.
With the aim of strengthening music education and the school’s activities, the school administration and the Parents and Guardians Association took the initiative to establish a school orchestra. The new orchestra would give students the opportunity to collaborate, develop their musical skills and participate in musical events.
Desmos responded to the school’s needs by providing musical instruments to equip the orchestra. The donation included a range of instruments, including electric pianos, accordions, a violin, flute, mandolin, clarinets, saxophone, percussion instruments, lute and oud.
The additional equipment enabled the school to expand its music education opportunities while incorporating elements of the region’s musical tradition into students’ everyday learning experience. At the same time, the orchestra creates opportunities for students to share their music with the local community through events and other activities.
