Desmos for youth 2021

The “Desmos for Youth” program is being implemented for the third year, with the aim of financing jobs for unemployed people up to 30 years of age in public benefit organizations across the country.

The “Desmos for Youth” initiative was created during a time of crisis as a culmination of the potential of young people living in Greece today and the impressive achievements they accomplish when given the opportunity to work. It served as a link between the need for youth employment and a common challenge among non-profit organizations, namely the lack of funding to staff them with capable human resources.

Since the program began, we have supported 26 different jobs with a strong social impact, covering not only a large geographical area, but also a wide range of professions, specialties, and fields of action, recognizing early on the program’s ever-increasing positive results.

To date, more than 80,000 people in over 20 geographical areas across the country have received significant support exclusively from young people working through the “Desmos for Youth” program. At the same time, 26 young people have gained significant professional experience, financial independence, and stability, while organizations say they are convinced that their activities have been enriched. 86% of participants remain employed by their chosen organization after completing the program.

What is the “Desmos for Youth” program?

Through the “Desmos for Youth” program, we fund jobs in public benefit organizations for unemployed young people with a threefold objective:

  1. to help these young people gain valuable professional experience,
  2. help organizations strengthen their capabilities and expand their work, and finally,
  3. help them maximize their positive social and humanitarian impact.

For the majority of young people, their employment through the program was their first job, and for many organizations, the young person hired through the program was their first employee.
