Running for a purpose
Ladies Run becomes a journey of giving, supporting vulnerable women and their children.
Since 2012, Ladies Run has been more than just a race. It is a celebration of women’s participation, empowerment and solidarity, where every step carries a greater purpose.
Through its long-standing partnership with Desmos, the energy and participation of thousands of women are transformed each year into meaningful support for organisations working daily to protect, care for and empower vulnerable groups.
Each edition of Ladies Run is an opportunity to identify real needs and direct resources where they can create the greatest impact.
Over the years, through Desmos, Ladies Run has supported a wide range of organisations and initiatives:
Women and mothers facing vulnerable circumstances, through the support of organisations such as AMAMÉ, Fainareti and the Union of Ukrainian Women, providing assistance to women, pregnant women and new mothers in need of support.
Women who have experienced violence or social exclusion, through the strengthening of shelters and protection services, including the shelters for abused women of the Municipality of Athens and Piraeus, as well as other support initiatives.
Girls and children, by supporting organisations such as the Christodouleio Foundation, Chatzikyriakio Foundation and other child protection organisations.
Mental health and social reintegration, by strengthening initiatives of organisations such as IASIS, the Support Network for Imprisoned and Released Women, KETHEA and other organisations.
Access to healthcare and support services, through the support of organisations such as Doctors of the World and initiatives addressing critical healthcare needs.
Since 2012, the National Bank of Greece has been a steadfast supporter of the event by doubling the donation amount for every registration completed using the bank’s card. This contribution significantly strengthens Desmos’ ability to respond to more needs and create an even greater social impact.
Beyond kilometres and participation numbers, Ladies Run has created something greater: a community of people who choose to run not only for themselves, but also for others.
Because every journey can lead to something more meaningful. And when thousands of people move in the same direction, the impact of giving can reach even further.
