More than 300 agencies nationwide pick up disposable masks to boost vulnerable high-risk groups from COVID-19

Plastika Thrakis is donating 2,000,000 certified disposable surgical masks through Desmos. Since June 1, ACS Postal Services has delivered free and safely 1,000,000 masks to public benefit organizations across the country. Of these, 212,000 have been distributed by the Stavros Halioris Social Center in the region of Thrace.

Desmos, the non-profit association that acts as a link for the social contribution in Greece, coordinates communication with the institutions, confirms their needs, and coordinates the implementation of the project.

This offer has already supported 44,040 vulnerable people and their 3,845 carers, providing a total of necessary protection to 47,885 people who find it difficult to access this valuable – and essential for public and individual health – health material.

To date, the needs of 139 institutions in the 13 regions of the country that are not covered by the benefits of the Ministry of Health under COVID-19 have been met. We have given masks to:

  • 62 nursing homes and Aged Care Units
  • 38 Health and chronic patient care providers (incl. Mental health and rehabilitation)
  • 15 Child Protection Institutions-Closed Accommodation
  • 10 support agencies for the needy and homeless
  • 4 support and accommodation agencies for people with special needs and severe disabilities
  • 10 Administrative Services Of The Municipality Of Xanthi

The aim of all stakeholders involved in this project is to cover the needs of masks of organizations and institutions that care for high-risk people, but deliveries continue dynamically in more than 300 organizations such as social pharmacies, closed accommodation institutions, chronic diseases clinics and other institutions and will be completed by the end of September.
