Emergency Fund 2024
In the summer of 2024, Greece faced a series of devastating wildfires that affected Northeastern Attica, Achaia, Drama, Rethymno and several other regions across the country.
The Desmos Emergency Fund was activated immediately, demonstrating the value of being prepared before a crisis unfolds. Thanks to readily available resources, we were able to respond while the wildfires were still ongoing.
As part of our immediate response, we provided essential equipment to volunteer forest protection and firefighting teams operating on the front line. At the same time, we distributed emergency relief supplies, including bottled water, food and protective face masks, to volunteers and affected residents.
Our support continued well beyond the emergency phase. In the weeks that followed, we assisted wildfire-affected households with essential supplies, household equipment and food, helping families begin the process of rebuilding their everyday lives.
We also supported school communities in the affected areas by providing equipment and school supplies, helping ensure a smooth and safe start to the new school year.
