Scope of the Privacy Policy<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"gb-text gb-text-c2905979\">This privacy policy (the \u201c<strong>Privacy Policy<\/strong>\u201d) describes the categories of personal data collected by Desmos, a non-profit association established and operating under Greek law, with its registered office at 71 Athinon Avenue, 10173 Athens, Greece, registration number 29066 in the Register of Associations and tax identification number 997460285 (hereinafter \u201c<strong>DESMOS<\/strong>\u201d), and how DESMOS collects, uses, retains and transfers data collected from you when you visit <a href=\"http:\/\/www.desmos.org\">www.desmos.org<\/a> (the \u201c<strong>Website<\/strong>\u201d). The Privacy Policy is provided for information purposes in accordance with Articles 13 and 14 of the General Data Protection Regulation.  . The Privacy Policy forms an integral part of the Terms of Use and may be amended from time to time by posting the current version on the Website. DESMOS is the controller of your personal data, as defined below, within the meaning of the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016\/679 (the \u201cGDPR\u201d). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"gb-text gb-text-9e9a7800\">2. <strong>Purpose of the Privacy Policy:<\/strong> This Privacy Policy explains how DESMOS processes your Personal Data. If you do not agree with it, we recommend that you do not use the Website. Your continued use of the Website after changes to the Privacy Policy are published will be regarded as your acceptance of those changes.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"gb-text gb-text-82294c77\">3. <strong>Contacting DESMOS:<\/strong> If you have any questions about the Privacy Policy or the practices of the Website, please contact DESMOS at <a href=\"mailto:gdpr.desmos@gmail.com\">gdpr.desmos@gmail.com<\/a>. Processing of personal data includes the collection, recording, organisation, structuring, storage, alteration, retrieval, consultation, use, transmission, restriction or deletion of personal data that DESMOS has obtained or may obtain when you visit and use the Website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"gb-text gb-text-55ae354b\">3. Personal Data includes data you provide when you subscribe to the DESMOS newsletter, submit a contact form, make a donation, register as a volunteer or engage with other activities, services, features or resources that DESMOS may make available through the Website. Such data may include, for example: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list dn-privacy-list\">\n<li><strong>Identity data<\/strong> (full name, curriculum vitae).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Contact data<\/strong> (email address, telephone number).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Donation\/billing details (information you provide when making a donation, such as your first name, last name, address, city, region, postal code, country, telephone number, and email address. In the case of a corporate donation, additional company details may also be collected, such as company name, address, city, country, telephone number, competent Tax Office\/Tax Service (D.O.Y.\/KE.FO.D.E.) and Tax Identification Number (A.F.M.)).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Content of communications<\/strong> (for example, the message you send through the contact form).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Technical information and cookies:<\/strong> Some information collected when you visit and use the Website is technical information (\u201cTechnical Information\u201d), automatically recorded through cookies or similar technologies. It includes your Internet Protocol (IP) address, the date and time of your visit, the referring URL, the time-zone difference from Greenwich Mean Time (GMT), HTTP status code, amount of data transmitted, browser type, operating system and user interface, browser software language and version, and internet service providers used. DESMOS also collects information about your activities on the Website, such as the pages you visit. <br\/><br\/>A cookie is a small file containing a string of characters that is sent to your computer or another device when you visit a website. When you visit the website again, the cookie enables it to recognise your browser. Cookies may store user preferences and other information. The use of cookies does not reveal your identity, but it may allow your computer or another device to be recognised. The Website uses both session cookies (which last only while your browser is open) and persistent cookies (which enable authentication and other Website functions each time you log in), as well as third-party cookies, such as those placed by social media providers in accordance with their respective policies. You can disable third-party cookies on the relevant provider\u2019s website. Although most browsers accept cookies by default, you can reset your browser to reject all cookies or to alert you when a cookie is sent. However, some Website features or services may not work at all or may not work properly without cookies.       <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Google Analytics:<\/strong> Google Analytics collects data including how often the Website is visited, the pages users visit, other websites they used before visiting the Website and interest-based advertisements. Google\u2019s ability to use and share information collected by Google Analytics about your visits to the Website is restricted by the Google Analytics terms of service and Google\u2019s privacy policy. Depending on the circumstances, DESMOS may also collect the full name of the person honoured and the full name and email address of other people you designate. You may write a personal message to the person honoured, which is stored on our servers.<br\/> <\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"gb-text gb-text-5aea796f\">2. DESMOS does not seek to collect special categories of data through the Website, such as health data or data concerning religious or political beliefs, unless this is strictly necessary for a specific activity, the provision of a reasonable accommodation or a legal obligation, and an appropriate legal basis and exception under the GDPR applies. Please do not send us such data through free-text fields unless we expressly request it for a specific lawful purpose. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"gb-text gb-text-55943b09\">3. Minors: The Website is not intended for children under fifteen (15), and DESMOS does not knowingly collect data from such persons without the consent of the person exercising parental responsibility. If it is established that such data has been collected, it will be deleted without delay. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"gb-text gb-text-5726c3e0\">4. Please remember that where processing is based on your consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time. In some cases, however, withdrawing consent may mean that certain services or activities are no longer available to you. Withdrawal of consent applies prospectively and does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"gb-text gb-text-47b35a02\">5. You acknowledge that DESMOS may process your Personal Data as described in this Privacy Policy to enable you to use the Website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"gb-text gb-text-03137aaf\">6. You must not provide the Personal Data of third parties unless you are authorised to do so. By submitting another person\u2019s Personal Data, you represent and warrant that you are authorised to do so, that you have obtained that person\u2019s consent to provide their Personal Data and, where required, that they have consented to the submission of all such Personal Data in accordance with the Privacy Policy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"gb-text gb-text-ccdad70d\">7. Legal bases for processing: DESMOS processes your Personal Data on the basis of: (a) your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR), in particular for newsletter subscriptions and the use of non-essential cookies; (b) performance of a contract or steps taken at your request (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR), in particular for completing donations and registering volunteers; (c) compliance with a legal obligation (Article 6(1)(c) GDPR), in particular tax and accounting obligations; or (d) DESMOS\u2019s legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR), in particular Website security, improvement of services and matters relating to legal claims.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"gb-text gb-text-2185c896\">IV. How DESMOS Uses Your Personal Data \u2013 Purposes of Processing<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"gb-text gb-text-085e4b24\">1. For the purposes of this Privacy Policy, \u201cuse\u201d means any operation or series of operations carried out in relation to the Personal Data you provide, such as collection, processing, use and storage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"gb-text gb-text-bcdeec81\">2. DESMOS may use your Personal Data for the following purposes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list dn-privacy-list\">\n<li>To process your registration.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To operate and manage the Website.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To fulfil DESMOS\u2019s statutory purposes, including connecting donors with suitable projects, helping charitable organisations support people in need and creating volunteer programmes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To raise monetary contributions and other resources in support of DESMOS\u2019s purposes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To carry out fundraising and other projects.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To process payments, where necessary.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To provide support to donors.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To respond more effectively to requests for services.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To personalise the user experience, for example by remembering your name or preferences.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To collect statistics that enable DESMOS to understand how visitors use the Website and its resources and to improve its design and content so that it serves you better.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To improve the Website using your feedback.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To run a promotional activity, competition, survey or other activity for DESMOS.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To send you periodic emails and\/or otherwise contact you about your donations and other aspects of the services provided through the Website, as well as DESMOS\u2019s activities, news, updates and services<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To inform you of changes to the Website and respond to your questions, enquiries and\/or other requests.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To establish, exercise or defend legal claims and to identify and address breaches of the Terms of Use and the Privacy Policy.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To receive, record, assess and manage requests concerning needs submitted to DESMOS and communicate with applicants about them.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To receive, record, assess and manage offers of donations in kind, communicate with donors and coordinate the allocation of the items offered.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To assess and prioritise recorded needs and match them with appropriate donations, resources or DESMOS programmes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To communicate with donors, organisations, schools, volunteers and other partner organisations or individuals in connection with implementing and monitoring DESMOS\u2019s activities and programmes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"gb-text gb-text-da42ffd4\">V. Retention Period for Personal Data<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"gb-text gb-text-27583185\">In determining how long to retain your Personal Data, we take particular account of the nature and volume of the data, the purpose of processing, its security and our legal obligations. We retain Personal Data for a period linked to the relevant processing purpose, until that purpose has been fulfilled, or for longer if required by law or by DESMOS\u2019s legitimate interests while those interests remain applicable. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"gb-text gb-text-5f7b10a9\">For example: (a) newsletter subscription data is retained until you withdraw your consent or unsubscribe; (b) contact form data is retained for twelve (12) months after the communication has concluded; (c) prospective volunteer data is retained for twelve (12) months after submission if no collaboration results; and (d) data and supporting documents relating to donations are retained for the period prescribed by the applicable tax legislation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"gb-text gb-text-9b81a14f\">VI. Disclosure and Transfer of Personal Data <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"gb-text gb-text-7be99498\">1. Except for the purposes and to the extent described herein, DESMOS will not sell, exchange, rent, publish or otherwise exploit your Personal Data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"gb-text gb-text-f3985f19\">2. DESMOS may share general aggregate demographic information that is not linked to Personal Data identifying any individual with its partners, sponsors and donors when reporting on its activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"gb-text gb-text-1ed58a04\">3. DESMOS discloses your Personal Data:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list dn-privacy-list\">\n<li>To its agents, representatives, service providers and contractors whose assistance is required to operate the Website or whom DESMOS engages to manage activities on its behalf, including processing your donations, providing services relating to the Website, communicating DESMOS news and information, planning and coordinating events or volunteer opportunities, providing customer support, enhancing and improving the donor experience, conducting financial transactions and, generally, for the uses described in this Privacy Policy. These representatives, service providers and contractors may use your Personal Data only to the extent necessary for those purposes or as otherwise permitted by this Privacy Policy. When we use third parties to carry out processing operations on our behalf, we ensure that they provide the necessary safeguards for the security and confidentiality of your Personal Data and are bound by a written data processing agreement under Article 28 GDPR.  <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>When you make a donation in honour or memory of someone, DESMOS may share your name and contact details with the people you designate or with the person who initiated the fundraising campaign.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If DESMOS merges with or becomes a subsidiary of another organisation, DESMOS will ensure the confidentiality of any Personal Data involved in such transactions and will notify you before your Personal Data is transferred to another party and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Where required by law, a court order or any other governmental or regulatory authority. In that event, your data will be disclosed only to the competent bodies. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Where DESMOS considers disclosure necessary to protect the privacy, security, integrity or property of DESMOS or of another person.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"gb-text gb-text-441fdbcd\">4. DESMOS may transfer, store and use your Personal Data for troubleshooting, user support, usage monitoring and data storage in any country where its third-party service providers are based, including countries outside the European Economic Area that may offer lower levels of data protection than those applicable within it, subject to the conditions and safeguards described in paragraph 5 below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"gb-text gb-text-2f8b9c2a\">5. As a rule, DESMOS seeks to process and store personal data within the European Economic Area. However, certain technical providers, cloud providers, analytics tools, electronic communication services or payment providers may have facilities, support functions or access to data outside the European Economic Area. Where Personal Data is transferred outside the European Economic Area, DESMOS takes steps to ensure that the transfer relies on a lawful mechanism under the GDPR, such as an adequacy decision, the European Commission\u2019s standard contractual clauses or another appropriate safeguard. Upon request, it provides further information or a copy of the relevant safeguards where required and permitted.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"gb-text gb-text-00b671ee\">6. You acknowledge and agree that DESMOS employees may have access to your Personal Data. DESMOS will take all reasonable steps to ensure that those employees are informed of the nature of the Personal Data and comply with this Privacy Policy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"gb-text gb-text-4d7cbbd4\">7. <strong>Third-party websites<\/strong>: Other websites, including those of our partners, suppliers, advertisers, sponsors, licensors and other third parties linked from the Website, have their own privacy policies. When you provide Personal Data to one of those websites, you are subject to the privacy policy of its operator. <br><br>DESMOS may use third-party services, such as Google Forms, for the submission of requests, offers of donations in kind or other relevant information. When you select a relevant link on the Website, you may be redirected to the external website of the provider. The data you submit through those forms is collected for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, while your use of the third-party platform is also governed by its terms and privacy policy.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"gb-text gb-text-7e45886d\">VII. Your Rights <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"gb-text gb-text-f6ffb853\">1. You may submit a written request to <a href=\"mailto:gdpr.desmos@gmail.com\">gdpr.desmos@gmail.com<\/a> to exercise the following rights available under personal data protection law:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list dn-privacy-list\">\n<li><strong>Access<\/strong>: You may ask us to confirm which of your data we process, provide access to data you cannot already access and provide other information about it, insofar as that information is not already set out in this Privacy Policy.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Rectification or completion<\/strong>: If the data we hold about you is incomplete, out of date or inaccurate, you may ask us to correct or complete it. DESMOS reserves the right to request updates to this information periodically and to verify new information. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Erasure<\/strong>: You may ask us to delete the data we hold about you. DESMOS may be unable to comply with your request if processing is necessary to comply with a legal obligation, fulfil another lawful purpose or establish, exercise or defend legal claims. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Restriction of processing<\/strong>: You may ask us to restrict the processing of your Personal Data (that is, to store it without otherwise processing it).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Data portability: You may receive your Personal Data that has been processed electronically by automated means in a specified format.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Withdrawal of consent<\/strong>: Where processing is based on your consent, you may withdraw it at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"gb-text gb-text-4bc60405\">2. <strong>Right to object<\/strong>: If you do not want DESMOS to use your Personal Data as described herein, you may email DESMOS at <a href=\"mailto:gdpr.desmos@gmail.com\">gdpr.desmos@gmail.com<\/a>. Your request will be examined within the time limits set out in paragraph 5 below. Your objection to DESMOS\u2019s processing of your Personal Data will not affect the lawfulness of its use up to that point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"gb-text gb-text-8bcb819e\">3. Lodging a complaint: You have the right to contact the Hellenic Data Protection Authority (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.dpa.gr\"><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/www.dpa.gr\">www.dpa.gr<\/a>) and, where appropriate, lodge a complaint if you believe that we are not processing your Personal Data lawfully or have not adequately fulfilled the rights described above. The Authority\u2019s available contact details include its website www.dpa.gr, address 1\u20133 Kifisias Avenue, 115 23 Athens, telephone +30 210 6475600 and complaints email <a href=\"mailto:complaints@dpa.gr\">complaints@dpa.gr<\/a>. We recommend checking the Authority\u2019s website for the current complaints procedure. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"gb-text gb-text-a7addff6\">4. How to Exercise Your Rights<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"gb-text gb-text-6c44994d\">a. To enable us to respond to and\/or fulfil your request accurately, you must always provide specific, accurate and truthful information and\/or facts. Otherwise, DESMOS is not liable for errors beyond its control. We also have the right to reject requests that are unfounded, excessive, abusive, made in bad faith or unlawful under applicable law. We may ask for clarification to understand your concerns and expectations and address your request more effectively.    <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"gb-text gb-text-4c698300\">b. We have the right to request proof of your identity before fulfilling your request. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"gb-text gb-text-4f776c3a\">c. You do not have to pay a fee to exercise your rights concerning Personal Data unless the law provides otherwise or your request is unfounded or excessive. In that case, we may charge a reasonable fee. We will inform you of any potential charge before acting on your request.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"gb-text gb-text-50046461\">5. DESMOS aims to respond to all valid requests within one (1) month of receipt, unless the request is exceptionally complex or the data subject has submitted multiple requests, in which case we aim to respond within three (3) months. If we need more than one month for the reasons above, we will inform you. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"gb-text gb-text-c9ded44e\">6. DESMOS does not make decisions that produce legal effects concerning you or similarly significantly affect you based solely on automated processing, including profiling. Simple analysis of Website traffic, where used, is not intended to make such decisions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"gb-text gb-text-956d9179\">VIII. Protection and Security of Personal Data <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"gb-text gb-text-249bcae1\">1. DESMOS\u2019s primary concern is to ensure that appropriate precautions are continuously taken to protect the Personal Data described above. We therefore apply appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your Personal Data, whether held in physical or electronic records, from unauthorised or unlawful access, use, alteration or disclosure, and from loss or destruction. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"gb-text gb-text-df3cbf65\">2. These practices and measures may include controlled access, restrictions on access rights, contractual confidentiality commitments, technical security measures, incident management procedures and the selection of providers offering appropriate safeguards. Despite these measures, no method of internet transmission or storage can be considered completely secure. Please therefore use secure networks, avoid submitting irrelevant or excessive data through free-text fields and contact DESMOS promptly if you believe your communications or data may have been compromised.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"gb-text gb-text-8d625c86\">3.
