class=\"gb-element-b1f1f2a2\">\n<div class=\"gb-element-1be72f1d\">\n<p class=\"gb-text gb-text-187a9d9e\">On 6 February 2023, two devastating earthquakes of magnitude 7.8 and 7.5 struck southeastern Turkey and Syria, causing immense loss of life and leaving millions of people facing the consequences of the disaster.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"gb-text gb-text-5271822e\">For the first time, Desmos activated its crisis response mechanism outside Greece, aiming to help secure safe and dignified living conditions for families who had lost their homes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div gb-text-5cb9114e\"><strong>Our response<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"gb-text gb-text-ccb97d34\">Through continuous updates from the field and in collaboration with trusted local partners, we assessed the needs in the affected areas and focused our response on providing shelter for those displaced by the earthquakes.<br\/><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"gb-text gb-text-f19e4bec\">From the first days following the earthquakes, temporary shelters began to be established and essential supplies and equipment were provided, including generators, heaters, beds, blankets, food, drinking water and hygiene products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"gb-text gb-text-6ff6a17f\">Desmos then supported the development of an organised temporary settlement in <strong>Samandag, Hatay Province, Turkey<\/strong>, one of the areas most severely affected by the earthquakes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"gb-element-bd582e59\">\n<div>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"800\" class=\"gb-text gb-text-3efc7b4c\">Specifically, <strong>33 fully equipped 7\u00d73-metre housing units <\/strong>were secured, each with the capacity to accommodate <strong>up to 6 people<\/strong>.
