Desmos for Youth
We create opportunities for young people. We empower society.
The “Desmos for Youth” program was launched in 2016 with a twofold goal:
To offer unemployed young people the opportunity to gain meaningful professional experience.
To support non-profit organizations by providing them with valuable human resources, enabling them to expand their work and increase their social impact without bearing the cost of employment.
Since 2016, 5 cycles of the program have been implemented, creating 61 jobs across 59 organisations and directly or indirectly benefiting over 91,500 people. To a large extent, these positions would not have been created without the program’s intervention. Desmos fully covers the young people’s payroll costs for one year, allowing organisations to expand their work without financial burden.
To illustrate the program’s progress and consistency, here is a summary of the results from all cycles:
Cycle I (2016–2017): 15 jobs, 100% funding from private individuals (over 14,000 donors),
Cycle II (2017-2018): 11 jobs, 40% funding from private individuals and 60% from companies and foundations,
Cycle III (2021–2022): 14 jobs, 6 of which addressed needs arising from COVID-19,
Cycle IV (2023–2024): 10 jobs,
Cycle V (2024–2025): 11 jobs.
The program is best illustrated through the stories of the people involved. In the recap video, new employees and their host organisations share their experiences and the impact their work has had.
The study showed that for every €1 invested in the program, €11.7 returns to the Greek economy.
